I saw that HSN will be carrying Sensa starting 1/26. I thought Q was going to but I guess HSN won the contract.

I was curious so googled "sensa"...didn't like most of what I read and mainly the ingredients of this product..think I will stay away from this one...

Below is part of an article I read:

Update 6/20/08: Another name for The Sprinkle Diet is Sensa and I now have the full ingredient list of The Sprinkle Diet/Sensa:

Maltodextrin
Tricalcium Phosphate
Silica
Natural and Artificial Flavors
FD&C Yellow 5
Carmine
Contains Soy and Milk ingredients
This is exactly what I mentioned in reason #5 above, that I wouldn’t be surprised if the ingredients contained natural flavors/MSG: Natural flavors/natural flavoring is another name for MSG and maltodextrin very likely contains MSG

I actually have been using Sensa for about 3 months and I think it's an amazing product. I am so excited it's available on HSN now because I think it's going to be cheaper for me to buy it here. I have lost 13 lbs so far and know that it is 100% because of Sensa. I went throught the holidays with my famiily and didn't work out, or watch what I was eating and I still lost weight. I just sprinkled everything, and stopped when I was full. I couldn't be happier. Imagine if I'd actually gotten to the gym!

As far as the ingredients go, according to the Sensa website the product is sodium-free, sugar-free, calorie free, gluten-free, and there are no stimulants, or MSG. I don't believe that HSN would allow a product that was misrepresenting their ingredients - I'm sure they are really careful about checking into that kind of stuff. Especially something controversial and new like this.

Also I am a member of the Sensa forums and I remember they specifically addressed a question from a user about Maltodextrin and said that it is derived from corn in the USA. They also were very clear that there was absolutely no MSG in their product. Again I dont think a company of this size would lie so blatantly and I feel totally confident using Sensa.

Michelle, can you shed a little light on the reason for the different strengths for each month? I get the concept, I just wonder if it's really necessary to get each month's product...

I got a container in one of my beauty packets (like Test Tube, but a little different) - I just forget to use it. Maybe I should start, huh? How long did it take for you to notice a difference? I know it's just supposed to make you feel fuller more quickly and for longer...do you really manage not to get hungry between meals?

Thanks for any enlightenment you might be able to give!

Hi,
I used Sensa for 4 months. I didn't lose a ton of weight, only about 10 pounds (I'm large so that isn't much for all that money) but I did notice that I wasn't as hungry between meals. I expected to eat smaller portions as well, but did not. I continued to eat normally, I don't usually pig out on junk food. I had the occasional treat for dessert, I didn't diet. So I guess it's a miracle I lost any weight.

It doesn't work for everyone, it depends on your specific reason for weight gain. If you tend to eat too much at a meal, and feel hungry all the time in between, it might be for you.

I'd say try it, you have 60 days to return it if you buy via the Sensa company (I don't know HSN's policy on this product). However, while men tend to lose immediately, women can take 90 days or longer to begin to lose weight. So if you don't lose right away, you don't know if the product will work or not. You must have patience and decide if it's worth the money to stick it out.

I've been off of it for 3 months, and overall, I'm still less hungry than before using it. I think it had an effect on my hypothalamus or whatever is supposed to control your hunger/satiety.

p.s. the reason for different numbers each month is, you get used to it. They are different "flavors" in each set.

I don't think I sprinkled enough product on my food, because I usually only used one of the two shakers in a month's time. Maybe it would have worked better had I used more.

If you try it, use enough, and if you can, sprinkle on the top of whatever you eat. Don't sprinkle inside a sandwich, sprinkle ontop, or where you're going to bite, so your nose picks up the "scent." That's how it works.

But don't be afraid of it, it's usually not noticeable. On two of the months, I noticed it in the Sweet shaker, on certain foods. For example, in month one, Set 1 Sweet's shaker made ice cream taste a bit fruity. I didn't like it, and didn't eat much of the ice cream. Or on pound cake, it was a bit fruity. But not unpleasant.

There are no excitotoxins, I was worried about that, too. They swore they didn't use MSG and I don't think they did, because I can taste that stuff in food.

I also "blow up" with fluid if I have MSG and Sensa didn't cause that to happen.

Hope that helps.

Hi Sharon818,

If you have some you should definitely try it! What do you have to lose? Well...hahaha. ;)

The different months have a different combo of flavors so that your body doesn't get used to the product. If you just kept using month 1 over and over you would plateau. So you gotta switch it up. I started noticing a difference in my fullness the first week. But I didnt lose any weight for like 3 weeks. Then it just started dropping off. I made a really conscious effort to never keep eating once I started to feel full and that made a huge difference. The cool thing is that when I'm done with my 6 months on Sensa I dont feel like Ill gain the weight back because Ive learned new habits that work with my life. Its not like Ive been doing some crazy fast or working out 7 days a week or whatever.

Let me know if you try it!

I totally agree TWINKLETOES. Im totally confident they didnt put MSG or any other in there because my body tells me when its eating trash and I feel amazing.
I also noticed the sweet tastants a bit - they made fruit taste extra fruity - but that was good. It made chocolate taste a bit weird to me, but that was also good, because then I stopped eating as much!

I think the guarantee is actually 30 days on through Sensa directly. Not sure what HSN offers. But 30 days is enough time to see if you can stick to the program so I think thats cool.

Also 10 lbs is better than no lbs right? I think sprinkling a lot definitely helps because I went through every last drop of my two shakers every month and I can't even believe how much weight I lost.

Michelle-can you explain what this product is and what it does? I have an underactive throid which I take syntroid for. From what I read, with this condition, your metabolism slows down drastically. I am 55 and am packing on weight like crazy. I never eat out and eat very sensibly and healthfully at home. We never eat fast foods, nor do I fry anything. Yet I keep gaining weight. I, too, feel hungry an hour after eating. I do not eat large meals at all. I am desperate- do you think that I would be a good candidate? Thank you.

Twinkletoes, that was me. I ate big meals (often skipping breakfast because I didn't get humgry until I was up and about for 3-4 hours), but then I would stay ravenously hungry between meals and I would usually eat between meals as well. Back in August 2008 I started going to an accupuncturist for both poor sleep and this ravenous appatite. That worked for both problems. However, I still tended to eat oversized portions at each meal. Finally at the beginning of the first full week in January 2009, I started the Atkins diet. Now,that IS working! Ive lost weight (not much...just 6 or so pounds so far), but I now eat portion appropiate servings, am definately not hungry between meals, and have shed inches...more inches than pounds so far, but hey...I'm on my way! To me that's a better way to go than using something like this "sensa sprinkles". I still struggle with eating soon after arising in the mornings, but for the most part I do so within one hour upon getting up. It's a matter of making myself do so.

I think people tend to overeact a bit over ingredients. I researched these ingredients when I first started Sensa and discovered that they are all commonly used in all our everyday foods. And carmine is in half my lipglosses! So unless someone is following a raw foods or vegan diet I don’t really see what the problem is. We’re all eating these ingredients anyway. And I really just don't believe HSN would ever allow offer that they hadn't researched carefully. Bottom line is I've lost 13lbs thanks to Sensa!

Yeah, Egoslayer!!!!Applause

I too looked up the ingredients...another hyped up product with no real clinicals. All it is is some calcium and artifical sweetener (malodextrin) and I wouldn't want to take the silica or the carmin in my body.

There has been some "talk" that artifical sweeteners might curb your appetite. If that is possibly true then just purchase the malodextrin and use it in you foods or drinks...one thing about this if you get too much you can get diareeha (SP) sorry.

HSN must think we are all !
