HSN has to be losing customers. I used to shop mostly HSN - now with all the host changes, it is almost all QVC. I totally turn the channel when the new hosts are on HSN. QVC seems to remain more loyal to their hosts, which makes their customers more loyal to them. The seasoned hosts can sell better to older and younger customers. The HSN "stylists" have to go as well. Let some of the females keep their own look. Maybe the new chain in command have to go. Something is NOT RIGHT.

Also, used to like Joy - cannot take her any more. How many huggable hangers can one buy? I'll go for the knock offs.

Wow I kind of feel the other way. I've been buying a ton more from hsn lately, but it doesn't really have much to do with the hosts. Qvc has been having too much of the same. They go thru changing hosts too. It seems like just recently they just brought on the 4 new hosts there. Gabby, Shawn, Davinia, and Sandra. I remember watching Sandra and her hands were shaking so bad while she was trying to sell. It's tough for all of them.

It seems like I turn on HSN more also. The "Q" is on computers, gps stuff and generic gift shows that are really getting old!

I never ever hardly turned on Q. To me, the atmosphere onstage (hosts, guests, products..etc) seemed so...stuffy or something and it came through the tv. I was a loyal HSN viewer for years but have found myself watching the Q more. They seemed to have updated their image a little. Still, some of their host gets on my nerves just as same as HSN. For that, I don't stop to watch. I did purchase a purse on the Q the other night. Something I haven't done in years!! Cool

OMG I can't understand why Jane Tracy cuts her hair so short all the time. The top of her ears are huge - almost vulcan like, and she always ends up looking like Peter Pan to me. I think she would be way more attractive if she would let her hair grow a little longer esp. around her ears.

Why i prefer QVC over HSN is the host on QVC are more involved in the presentations. With HSN the guests do almost everything, and the presentations are to long. Also HSN will show the same product for 20minutes almost every hour.

QVC's clothing is woefully lacking next to HSN's these days. Bravo HSN for improving on your clothing line with designers like Diane Gilman, etc. Lots of scrumptous variety. Thanks you so much HSN!Applause

I buy so much more from HSN. I think the hosts on HSN are more professional. One host on QVC actually said she had to go to the restroom on air...total unprofessional. Their hosts are much sillier and play around too much. If you like that sort of thing, then watch but I find I am watching QVC much less these days.

Really? I think Bob Bowersox and Dave King might disagree.

Dave King was unceremoniously let go (FIRED) earlier this year after being employed at QVC for 13 years? I always considered him as one of their most professional and seasoned hosts. Personally, I've been watching and purchasing items from both home shopping networks for many, many years. I don't rely on the hosts' inflated sell pitches when making a decision to make a purchase. HSN and QVC both have their share of bad on-air hosts.

Yeah, I was surprised to hear about Bob Bowersox's departure after a zillion years with the Q....and as far as earnings, HSN over QVC, HSN has managed to show a slight increase in earnings over the previous year (during the worst recession in at least 60 years) while QVC has shown a slight downturn in earnings from over a year ago....

And WOMEN"s WEAR DAILY has named HSN as "Retailer of the Year" for of its surge in the sale of beauty products.

So.....somebody is doing something right.

Maybe the braintrust at HSN should take over the marketing and product development for Ford, Chrysler, and GM.....hey, it can't hurt, LOL!

Merry Christmas to all..........and to all a good night!!!!!

I totally prefer the Q's hosts, the seasoned ones like Jill, David, Sandra, etc. I was shocked to see Bob leave but he hasn't looked happy for a while.

I won't watch any HSN hosts other than Connie, sometimes Bill, Rachel or Bobbie, the rest drive me up the wall, sorry HSN.

The Q has more clothing for older women and its cheaper than HSN and fits better in my humble opinion. Their handbags are better quality and much classier than the offerings at HSN.

All in all, HSN is more trendy and thats fine for younger women but at 60+, I have to settle for less trendy and better fit. Whistle

I agree with katperson on this...it probably depends on your age as what you are attracted to. I've wondered how the shopping channels are doing during this economic downturn.

60 years old, very dry skin, medium complexion with light freckles and two sunspots. Also, some small broken veins due to sun damage and mild rosacea. Medium crow's feet wrinkles, forehead wrinkles and mild lip line wrinkles.

I feel the same way. QVC has better merchandise. HSN seems to have lowered their quality in order to sell at cheap prices.
HSN show host should practice being genuine and professional. I'm so tired of the sillyness. Joy M. is just too pushy and loud. She was bad enough selling her hangers. But she and Chris selling that cookware, tooooo much to take Sick.

During fashion shows, why can't hosts give us size range? When they do mention size range, it's time to move on. I'm sure they know not all designers (size) run the same. Some clothes run smaller than others.

I am sick of Bobbi trying to look like Adrienne..I am sick of the Sharif Bobbi bag..how clever of her to have a bag named after her..how much of the profit does she get for that.??
I personally like clothing from Anthony, CSC, Slinky,Tiana B, Bella Blue..they are different and make us look more hip, more modern, less matronally but in a good way.
Years ago I lived in the silk pants and animal silk blouses that Diane Gilman presented..they were so classy and I purchased everyone she put out there..now I no longer want her clothes..I am not a rock star and would look ridiculous in her clothing at work..she is in her sixties and needs to come back to earth..stop doing the hombre thing and get back to designing..sje is also too loud and shouts too much.
Stopped buying Suzanne when she doubled her prices and lowered her quality..also she has gone from sexy to ty..she is another woman in her 60's and not that we want to look desperate but we would rather look elegant than a street walker in her clothing..Suzanne just wants to make money for herself and wannabe designer daughter..has anyone ever heard of her daughter and this fabulous line of clothing that Suzanne keeps pushing...never heard of a showing at Bryant Park in New York of her clothing..
QVC...Jane needs a make over..she is looking her age and those big ears are incredible..does she not watch her tapes..
Antonella is a hoot..down to earth and loveable.
David was funny the first 3 thousand times he made the yum yum face..get another gimmick for him.
Dave King was my favorite..he was so believable..why get rid of the good hosts?
Again..just my thoughts...

Jean Bice - QF and Kathy Van Zeeland purses are one of the great assests of products sold on QVC.
Dave King is he the African American guy or the guy who does the NFL Shop? They are both professional and personable. Why in the heck would QBC fire them?

Dave King is african american. From what I've read, he had no idea his last air-on show would be his QVC finale. King was always pigeonholed during the wee-morning hours. I recall an on-air caller flat-out asked him, "Why are you always getting with the 2-4 am shift." He responded by saying that he didn't have any control on what shift he worked. Bob Bowersox's sudden departure was even more surprising to this poster -- so much for QVC's loyalty; however, it probably has more to do with business -- never personal!

I meant to say that I also love John C on HSN, he is an asset to the company and he knows how to sell and be charming and funny.

Dave King on the Q was my hands down favorite host, he had class and style and was soft spoken. He could show anything, jewelry, clothing, etc and do a good job. Since I am a night person, I enjoyed his shows and miss him so much but I will say Dave James and Sandra do good jobs at night.

HSN has some awsome designers in absolute, something that the Q doesn't. I know, some like Joseph Esposito and Judith Ripka but they have specific "styles" that are the same and not enough different and unique designs.

I don't make it a habit to watch QVC or HSN on tv. I check the TSV's for both channels on line and if I'm interested I tune in for a demo of the item. Show hosts don't determine what I buy....ever. It's the item and the bottom line, which includes S&H plus sales tax in my case. As a matter of fact today I placed an order for the TSV at the Q for Smashbox cosmetics. The price is right and I loved what I saw.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Applause Well said people. I do like john Cremans on HSN, but with all those hosts on HSN letting the guests yap and yap and not say a thing, its a bit too much. The hosts don't even go over sizes anymore on HSN, they think we should figure it out. QVC is great with that. I hope they keep the hosts that are the most reputable.

firing Dave King from QVC. That really bites. The guy is wonderful. Anyone ever hear Dave sing on OVC? Or the time he sang and Paula Abdul danced? He is very talented! Hope HSN recycles these great QVC hosts since QVC doesn't have a clue.

I like the Qs makeup and skin care shows better.
We get to see the makeup being used, how its used and actually see it being done.
Plus they will show the shades on the hand and each shade on a different model.
HSN is the worst with the camera coming to the shot.
I mean they are the worst.
Then Shannon just never stops about the price, buy it now at midnight cause its gone, we only have 20000 and 300 have been sold, dont think it will be around next hour LOL.,
I like the Qs kitchen items better.

It's my belief that HSN figures that undisciplined showhosts (Shannon, ie) are controversy magnets and thus more tune in, thus more merchandise is sold. But does it really win loyal customers?

I can only speak for myself, but I make it a point NOT to buy anything Shannon is selling. When Shannon raves endlessly about a product I like, I find myself second-guessing whether it is a product I want to reorder ... I swear, this is a case of how an obnoxious host can 'unsell' a product. Over-raving about products and hard-selling to get them out the door is a technique used by those unfamiliar with the true art of sales.

Attempting to sell by pressure, while occasionally good for entertainment value if you stumble upon it (depending on your mood), is offensive to a discerning customer and a true turn-off.
