I will no longer shop at here as long as they are selling purses that are made from a recently endangered species, they throw the word springbok around like an object, think about a beautiful antelope ladies, they were almost extinct, and crocs are slaugherd by the thousands to look good as a purse? Get this company off the market or more animals will die. Shame on HSN. pretty soon they will be selling fur coats.

Do you eat meat? Face it, animals provide us with food and a way to stay warm.

A springbok is a Gazelle and a small animal. I hardly think they are being slaughtered for meat because there is very little on their bones. THESE ANIMALS ARE BEING FOR THEIR FUR ALONE. I AGREE THIS BRAND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF HSN. No animal should be just for their fur. When I saw this being sold it sickened me along with pony fur shoes. Americans are hardly in danger of not being able to stay warm by wearing real fur!!! Mostly everything on HSN is synthetic why start selling this kind of animal now?

Just watched the video for Item: 510-830. The lady says that they are eaten in South Africa. No worries though. I won't be buying a $650 handbag.

I have to agree. There is no reason to insist on real fur, when faux fur has progressed so much. I don't need to be cruel to be fashionable.
As for meat eating - I personally don't, but that is my choice and I am fine with others eating whatever they choose. Wish they'd go with organic and farm raised rather than factory slaughterhouses, but that's neither here nor there :) I just can't wrap my brain around why anyone would want a purse or coat or whatever with the fur of an animal just for that purpose. Seems like you would be wearing misery...
This is one of those polarizing topics though. People choose what they want to choose. K

They are similiar to deer which much of the USA (and world) population hunts and eats. I am not a hunter nor ever want to be however, it's a fact and some people feed their families with game that they hunt.
I like real leather, it will not crack when it's real cold outside and if it ends in a landfill it will decompose, unlike vinyl or plastic handbags.
Those of you who are against leather goods, do you only carry cloth handbags or are you clogging our landfills with non biodegrable materials?

The first post indicated that they may be an endangered species. This is important and also what does Africa feel about them being . Does anyone know how to verify this information.

"Of all the creatures, man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiorty to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creature that cannot." As of now, I do not believe Springbok are endangered. Also, I believe it's illegal to import furs or other animal products from endangered species into the US. I'm no fan of fur and don't wear it, I've been vegetarian for 25 years, and I have done animal rescue for years. As a parrot owner and rescuer (I no longer am), I participated in a program that collects and sends feathers that birds naturally lose back to the people who live in their natural habitat and use the feathers for ritual and dress to help them maintain and grow the wild populations. The moral choice about fur (or eating meat, hunting, fishing, etc) is personal, and one I don't feel I have the right to impose on anyone else.

I'm just surprised they are selling real anything. Most of the purses and shoes are fake leathers, and they don't sell real fur on HSN.

Well, I love my meat and my leathers. I have not one problem with anyone selling leather, crocodile, python, snakeskin, or fur. I don't feel like I am wearing misery. The thoughts don't even cross my mind.
I have been given the information and seen all of the pictures. However, I have made an informed decision as I am sure HSN has.
Humans are not detestable as seen just on this board. I feel as though the majority of human beings are kind, thoughtful, and generous. Look at how many have posted that they find using animals for fashion and human consumption cruel. I am just not that noble.

For those who choose not to buy anything animal related, fine. For others, like myself, I love that in this country you get to make your own choices and can spend your money accordingly. I eat meat, own leather and fur products. On the other hand, I love vegetarian dishes and own some faux leather/fur items. I don't find one of my decision more noble than the other, simply a choice. I hope HSN continues to allow for this type of diversity. If not, there are way to many sellers who do.

I don't think that springbok is an endangered animal. Yesterday, I went perusing the handbag section at Marshall's. There were three different springbok handbags, and I mean totally covered. They were all priced at $99. It was funny to see them after seeing this post.
