Lobo~yummmmm...peanut butter cookies. And they’re so easy to make too. You’re giving me an idea...LOL! If you DO happen to bake some, you know you’ll have to leave a few in the kitchen for the coffee crowd. Mom turned 82 in April. We’ve got longevity genes up to the yang-yang. Family members living up to well in the 90s and some on my dad’s side even reaching the century mark. My brother came out yesterday and considering all that he’s dealing with, he seems to be doing okay. And still seems to have a good attitude about everything. Ah, yes...gotta love those “me shopping” days. Hope your new shoes are keepers! Thank you muchly for the kind thoughts, Devia. Its hard but we're just taking it one day at a time. HIYA Socal, your gene pool is a good one !! There was a woman on my mom's side that lived to be 100,she was called Silence.Mom did an extensive family records search a few years ago, got it all recorded,it makes for interesting reading, tho a tad confusing at times what with all that begatting & marryin' up and all.....LOL
WE decided on chili dogs for tomorrow. Got the Nathans brand and my fav chips, (Lay's, thin, crisp, salty & greasy ) were on sale...yummyx2
Better see to my scullery work...wouldn't want to get fired...HA HA HA HA

I built and set my first fire in the stove this morning...I knew I could do it, it tried to go out but I managed to keep it going...HURRRRAY...
Love being a farm-gal, I think I missed my calling....LOL

Morning all. Lobo, being a farm girl sounds like heaven!!! When you get a chance, can you post your recipe for beef stew? That would be so gratifying to make things from the food you have grown.
Cooled down here to the 80's. Couple of days in the 60's. People are wearing coats and bundled up. I think this weather is great.
Gotta finish the laundry then going walking and off to work.
Talk soon...........

Hi Maggie, here is the stew recipe...I am so flattered that you would ask for it !
Lobo's wonderful beef stew :
Brown one pound of stew meat in a small amount of oil, sprinkle with seasoned meat tenderizer, add 3 cups of water and a dash of celery salt. Bring to boil then simmer till meat is fork tender ( about 2 hours adding more water if needed) add two carrots sliced penny-wise and two quarteded onions, cook till tender, slowly blend in one packet of dry brown gravy mix (I use spartan brand) then add about 3 cups cubed potatoes, cook till potatoes are done...it's best to do this a day ahead so it flavors thru...
The gravy packet is my secret ingredient, it makes a wonderful dark rich stew !!
Hope you like it, let me know if you ever try it...

Wednesday greetings, coffee ladies! Sigh...today would’ve been my beloved dad’s 89th b’day...sigh... Two years now and I miss him terribly... So I’m cooking his favourite dinner. On today’s menu, rib eye steaks, baked potatoes, broccoli, a bottle of wine and a double cream lemon pie from Marie Callendar’s. Lobo, that stew recipe sounds wonderful!!! I just LOVE your recipes! I thought we were starting soup and stew weather but no chance...LOL! Its been in the 50s/60s the last few nights and last night we had winds blowing all over the place. Matter of fact, today it is only about 70 or so...BUT by the weekend it’ll be up to the 80s again…life in SoCal!? LOL devia...I have always used that mix for almost everything...the dumplings come out so light a fluffy , perfect every time...just be sure the liquid is boiling ( then reduce heat ) when you add them , cover for 10 min. and DO NOT lift the lid !
I make the rolled & cut biscuits with it too, they come out dry, like the KFC ones. I make 4 large ones, just enough for the two of us ...no waste.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!! Lobo~that is a GREAT idea for the Jiffy mix. I just gotta try it 'cuz I think Mom would go for that. Could probably put it in the little crock pot I sometimes use. You are just full of some WONDERFUL ideas!!! Bubbo~you are one busy lady. Well, the calendar says fall but we’re still having HOT weather...running around in shorts, sandals and tees...LOL! Already have my Thanksgiving menu planned and heat or no heat, in a few weeks I plan to start baking cookies and two loaves of pumpkin bread. And need to start prowling the markets for mince pies.
