I just ordered some items yesterday around mid afternoon and now at 5 am I decided I want to cancel those orders but was told I could not cancel the order. If its not coming to me until the 16th why don't I have 24 hrs at least to be able to cancel if I choose.

HSN you are only wasting your time and shipping cost. All the customer will do is not receive the order an it will then go back to you anyway. Why not give the customer more time to change their mind about an item. There could be any number of reasons for cancelling.

I won't just take it just because the delivery person arrived with it. My two orders are going back to you so you might as well cancel them now and save yourself the money.

I just sent HSN an email through customer contact requesting they cancel my order and telling them they should change their policy on cancellations. Even a hotel will give you 24 hrs to cancel your reservation. I guess they like wasting money on shipping items that will be returned to them.

They didn't even bother to email me back or call or send a snail mail. Shame on you The items isn't due to arrive at my home till tomorrow. They had more than enough time to cancel since I tried to put in for a cancellation LESS than 24hrs. UPS will be sending that right back to them as I won't be accepting delivery.

They wonder why other channels are getting their customers. I shop way more on the other one now and so much less on this one. Soon to be not at all! Over priced items, lousy cancellation policy, overpriced shipping etc. etc. etc.

It is my understanding that a person has until midnight of the day they order an item to cancel it. I agree with you that things can change and one may need to cancel an order, but that is the policy and from what I see and hear they stick to it. I'm sorry for your inconvenience.

You have until midnight to cancel any order placed in the same day for in stock items. You have more time on waiting list and back-ordered items. In your situation, your order would have been canceled successfully if you canceled it before 11.59 PM of the day you put in your order.
It is not 24 hours, but almost, if you place your order early in the morning or right after midnight. I agree that HSN should have been more flexible, especially if they have not ship the merchandise. But HSN is better than most online stores. Many give you only half an hour to cancel, some only give you 15 minutes, some don't let you cancel at all.

I also want to answer to LILYBLOOM on how to refuse an order. You don't have to be right there at the time the mail man or UPS person delivering to you to refuse a package. All you do is write refuse on the top of the label, put the package back in the mail box or call UPS. This should be done only if you received things that you did not ordered. I have done this myself when I refused a hardback book I did not ordered that was sent to me by a book club. When I called their customer service, I was told how to refuse a package. You don't pay any shipping charges when you refuse a package. Even if you opened it, just sealed it back up the best you can and send it right back. The trick is to make sure the merchant address label and packaging still intact.

Hope this help.

Get over it, CheapGal. Now I know how you got your name. You have until midnight to cancel your orders if you change your mind, that should be enough time. Maybe you should think your orders over more thoroughly before ordering.

WOW BALLOONGIRL
Pretty harsh and rude remarks.I can't get over why you find it necessary to personally attack a poster. Why couldn't you have just answered her question??? We customers certainly have a right to question things.

I have a sign on my door for UPS, FedEx, USPS that states do not leave package and do not leave package with a neighbor. I request they leave a notice and tell them I will make arrangements to pick it up at the branch. Then I just don't go get it and in three days it goes back. If I want the package I just call and have them put a hold on it so it won't be placed on the truck and I pick it up at the main branch. I've had that note on my door for years.

I'm suprised they are just leaving the package as UPS requires a signature for any package left. If they are doing that they must be signing it themselves which they are not allowed to do. I know Chadwicks states on the package that it can be left anywhere without a signature. As long as the package doesn't state can be left without signature it should not be just dropped off and left.

Momska no need for you to apologize its not your fault. Winking

If they were shipping items out the next day I could understand but when its taking over a week to get the order to the customer they certainly have time to stop shipment. That is something they should definetly change. It should be 24hrs. from the time you placed your order not midnight. If I ordered something at 11:30 p.m. and then wanted to cancel at 12:15 a.m. I wouldn't be able to which to me is ridiculous.

Policies can change you just have to fight for them to be changed.

I don't expect HSN to change their policy. There has to be a cut-off point SOMEWHERE. Midnight is as good as any.

Have you ever tried cancelling an Amazon order? If you don't cancel within SECONDS of placing your order, it is too late. Be thankful HSN gives you a little time.

My dear haven't you already paid the money?

It's been a few days so I hope all worked out in your favor.

Yeah I paid for them already but its like any other return. You get a refund. It should be showing up in my account within a day or so.

If I made a mistake placing an order, I would certainly know it before the end of that day. When I place an order, I put quite a bit of thought into it first, but I know when I place it that if I must cancel it for some reason, I'd better do it before midnight. I have no problem with that. BTW, UPS does not typically require a signature for their deliveries, and I'm glad about that because I work all day, and I don't live near their distribution center. They just knock on the door once and leave it wherever they think you'll find it. They only require a signature when it's been sent with that requirement, or if they've had problems with deliveries being lost or stolen at that location.

Part of having a businuss is having the customer change their mind for whatever reason. No one needs to explain why they no longer want it or feel guilty for cancelling it. HSN always states return with no questions asked. Well thought out purchase or not the bottom line here is if shipping isn't being done right away you should have the space in time to cancel.

There have been threads on this board of people complaining about shipping cost when it takes so long to receive their orders so what I am saying has relevance. As I have said before if it were shipped out the next day I could understand but that is not the case. There is no way they are processing my order at midnight and it still taking forever to get to me. You can't even track it. Why? Because nothing has been shipped yet. I had an order once I couldn't put a track on until four days after I ordered it. I certainly had time to cancel if I had wanted now didn't I, but HSN would not have let me if I tried.

There is more to things than just we order they send it. They have sales quotas to make and orders help them prove they made them cancelled orders do not. So even if they aren't shipping right away they still have your order on record.

Ship my orders faster and I won't be complaining about not being able to cancel because there would be a legit reason. The orders going out so quickly.

I am not sure why you keep saying nothing is being done with your order just because it may take longer. Perhaps your credit card company delays the process with slow authorization, maybe you live further from a distribution center than others, could be the items you are ordering are shipped directly from the manufacturer, it may be a number of reasons your orders may not arrive as fast as others. I have had packages arrive BEFORE the system even showed it being shipped, just because you are not seeing the process does not mean something is not being done. What purpose would it serve for any company to have orders sitting around? Bottom line, as of midnight your order is submitted for processing and can’t be cancelled.

With all your delivery refusals, don't be surprised if HSN bans you from ordering one of these days.

I can understand now why S/H seems high. Someone has to pay for packages being sent, refused and then sent back. I honestly did not know people did this.

IMO_ I do not think it is fair for others to have to pay for buyers remorse.

HSN's cancellation time is very fair now.
