I used to collect a lot of stuff, like pink depression glass, vintage china, etc. I don't anymore, and have sold almost all of it. It was just too difficult to dust and keep everything from just making my house look cluttered. We did a lot of major re-modeling and it was the perfect time to sell a lot off, both for the money and it gave me a fresh start making the house easier to manage.
I think the best I can say now is I collect makeup and perfume. ;)

Thanks for the welcome. I really appreciate nice, caring people. Looks like you have quite a few in here. I will visit more often. I am off for my garage sale treasure hunt. I will let you know if I find anything. Have a great one.

It would be interesting to know how many of us all have items in our homes we don't especially pay attention to or think about that someone else here collects. I have TONS of stamps and coins, for instance. One of my favorite pieces of jewelry was given to me by a friend of my parents after they had been to Saudi Arabia. It is Bedouin, and has a ton of coins on it. It is so heavy I get a headache if I wear it all day. When I was in college there was a student from S.A. and he was looking at it and told me the coins are a few hundred years old. My husband's grandfather had a big bunch of coins that we have now, from all over the world.

I use to collect , but finally came to my senses and now spend time, donating or selling my collectables.
I have seen too many people get with what someone else thought was just the "bees knees" and feel guilty about not wanting it...if my family wants something I have they know to speak up...usually I will give it to them now, so I can enjoy them enjoying what ever it is...

I'd like to give mine away......but I'm not sure my family wants them and I don't want them to take them out of guilt.....I guess that's one of the advantages to just leaving them and having them decide what they want and what they will give to a charity.

One day sometime after my mother had died, my step father had all us kids come over and go through her personal things and her dishes, etc. and take what we wanted. Pretty much everything, except her clothing, was snapped up. Later I saw my stepfather crying and asked him what was wrong. He said "I was afraid nobody would want her things". My heart ached for him.

My heart ached for him. Ohhh...that is sad....When I went thru my late mother's things, I found two of my late father's shirts. I had no idea she'd kept them. I gave them to my brother. My brother and my father were very close and I thought I'd let him make a choice on whether he wanted to keep them or......

My hubby has a cloth bathrobe that, if I were left alone, I would keep and wear. I washed it today. Somehow I'm attached to it.

Good morning all! I hope that everyone had a pleasant weekend. I went to a number of garage sales over the weekend and came up pretty much empty-handed. Not entirely though because I found a gentleman who had a couple of stamp albums. Unfortunately, they were empty However, my brother in law enjoyed looking at the various pictures of the stamps in the albums and when he can match up an actual stamp with the picture, he can then attach it to the album with a hinge. I have my work cut out for me to find those stamps, but it is something I truly enjoy, so it will be a joyous pursuit. Have a great day.!

Good luck with your stamp collecting. I'll be thinking of you the next time I see a stamp book at a garage sale...

Thanks for the good wishes. If you come across a horde of stamps at a garage sale, I would love their email and I could get in contact with them. Not bashful about trying to add to my collection where my Brother in Law is involved. Otherwise, I am kind of bashful and a little shy. Thanks again!!!
