How many silver rings does HSN expect us to own? Wasn't Victoria's last TS a silver ring? I'm so tired of silver rings with mundane blue topaz or any other semiprecious easy to find stone. If this is the NEW HSN I'm certainly not liking it.

I guess with the price of gold being so high they can't do too many TS's on gold items. Expensive to manufacture and expensive to buy.

Haven't you heard? Silver is now the metal of choice for women, not just a cheaper alternative to gold. How do I know this? Why, because HSN has told me so, of course.
All kidding aside, I'm with you, my friend. Gold is where it's at - expensive or not. I have nothing against white metals. I love white gold. I just don't like silver - -the constant maintenance, the reduction in shine and surface quality after just a short time of wear, the breakage, the pitting, the usage of lower quality stones because "it's just silver"....I could go on.
I bought silver occasionally when it was inexpensive. But with the exception of artisan-crafted silver, I view it as costume jewelry. It just doesn't stand the test of time. I have a box full of silver items I bought in the '80s and '90s that look pretty ragged and just take up space -- I never wear them and they aren't nice enough to pass along or to sell.
I'm waiting until gold gets back to reasonable prices. And if it never does, well that's ok, too. I have lots and lots of great gold jewelry I bought at the shopping networks at reasonable prices over the years. And most of it is every bit as beautiful as the day I bought it.

I thought stainless steel was the new choice of metal for women ---wink wink.

Gee, I was under the impression that pearls and agate stung on stainless wire with sterling silver closures were the "IN" things.

I happen to like this one and may order it. I prefer this blue color to all the other blue topaz colors and it seems to be a rather large ring as well. And I don't have a blue topaz ring of any sort, though I do have a fake blue zircon ring that my parents gave me when I graduated high school that really looks like a London blue topaz.

I also am a bigger fan of gold than silver, but I don't think I could afford a TSV in a substantial gold setting anymore (hate that tinny stuff). I too am glad I have so many wonderful pieces from days gone by. It's ironic to look at them and realize that what I paid for them is about what I'd pay today for a similar piece done in silver!
I will continue to be open to new ideas done in silver (different alloys can make it more durable than sterling), and any other metals they may come up with. My big thing is the quality and cut of the gems, and the beauty of the design. Unfortunately, I think we're going to be with a lot of quartz, opaque stones, and stones that have been color-treated or otherwise "enhanced" to make them look pretty.......but only for a limited amount of time. I've already had some color changes and fading in gemstone rings where it was never revealed that the stone color wasn't natural and/or permanent (That ticks me off).
So, every jewelry show that comes on, girls, drag out your jewelry box and put it between you and the TV set, so you can see what you already have before you buy!

I did not mean to sound like the TS isn't a nice piece of jewelry but rather that once in a while I'd like a gold piece as a TS. I guess it isn't going to happen for a while and this is Victoria's last TS for the year (if I heard correctly). For those who like it and love silver this TS might be just what you are looking for?

Too Blonde, I LOVE your idea! I WILL put my jewelry boxes between me and the remote from now on. How clever of you.
I don't think the TS isn't attractive. And I'm sure many will like it. It's just not for me, since I've had so much trouble with silver jewelry not lasting the way it should. If I were just starting out and had no jewelry in my inventory, so to speak, I might well be tempted to buy this one.
