Since HSN won't give us an ENTERTAINMENT FORUM I will start this and start a new one each month. All types of entertainment welcome, TV, Movies, Books.
For all that have been watching KINGS, tomorrow is the finale.
What do you think about the controversy of the movie ORPHAN?

LILABB, thanks so much for starting this thread. Lately I've gotten hooked on TCM (Turner Classic Movie) channel. Lots of oldies movies. When I'm not watching, I'm making jewelry.

Oh yes! TCM had on a lot of the old "Saint" movies the other afternoon. Very enjoyable since I haven't seen those golden oldies in years.
What was the controversy about that movie, The Orphan? It looked interesting, but I usually wait until it's on a pay per view or a premium station.

Last night on TCM I watched Bridge on the River Kwai and a couple of nights before that A Night to Remember, Houseboat with Cary Grant and Mr. Smith Goes to Washngton. I love watchng those old movies. They always had a good storyline. Most of the movies these days have a lot of cussing and nudity and leaves nothing to the imagination.

I love TCM and watch a lot of the movies. I just love the old "black and white" movies. I'm glad Ted Turner said he wouldn't colorize any of the old movies and he was right. I am glad that they enhance them so they are not grainy or difficult to watch..just the way they were when first made. Coloring them would ruin them in my opinion also. Also, no bad language in those movies! Now every other word is an F bomb and to me it is totally unnecessary. Great movies, with great storylines and REAL movie stars are the ones to watch.

You know, TVLand used to show some real classic sitcoms. I am so disappointed with their current line-up. Why are they showing reality tv shows? I miss the stuff they showed when they 1st appeared on the scene.
As for the Orphan, I'm not sure what the controversy is. I saw the previews & it looks like another remake of The Omen to me. I may be off but that's what it appears to me.

I heard yesterday on one of the 24 hours news channels that the controversy over ORPHANS is that it is giving a bad rap on both orphans and those that adopt them. Just something to talk about on a slow news day, I guess!

I enjoy TCM too.Lots of good oldies ,with great actors and actresses. I agree with Lucy about TV Land.I would watch local channels if I wanted to see endless reality shows. I have watched Andy Griffith episodes so many times but still enjoy them.So disappointed that he is only on, on weekends now. Is anyone watching HawthoRNe?It is a good show, kindly makes me think of ER. I agree,Devia.I enjoy those old comedies too.Anyone enjoy The Real McCoys like I did?I can't seem to find it on any channel.

Sleuth used to show Simon & Simon along with Miami Vice. They have since changed their line-up for the worse & I haven't watched since they change.
You can go online to Hulu & watch the old shows for free. Last time I checked, they had the Patridge Family and Simon & Simon among many, many more.

You're welcome. Hulu is a great channel online. They feature almost commercial free programming.

Hello everyone!
I'm glad you like this thread. Maybe the MODS will see it and finally do something about giving us a real ENTERTAINMENT FORUM so we won't have to keep it going ourselves. I like reading what everyone likes to read and watch on TV. You give me ideas that I either don't know about or have forgotten. I like to watch LMN, LIFE, and TCM. I've just about given up on the regular channels. Nothing much but sitcoms and silly reality shows are all they have to offer. Remember when they use to show Made For TV Movies? We now get Hallmark occasionally which I always watch but that is about all.

I am hooked on "Whale Wars" and "Deadliest Catch." I also love the Dominic Dunne Show on TruTV.

Did anyone see Lakeside Terrace? I caught this late last night and I highly recommend it.
Samuel L. Jackson steals the show here. This guy is such a terrific actor you hate him in the first 5 min!

THE WANTED on NBC will be on tonight at 9:00 PM EST.
I watched it last week and thought it to be intriguing. There is a new story each week about real life counterterrorism experts tracking down criminals.

Has anyone been watching "The Next Food Network Star"?
I think Melissa will win. She reminds me of Rachel Rae with her cooking technique and that wonderful smile. I think Rachel will soon be moving on with all her other endeavors. She only has so many hours in a day and Melissa would be a good replacement.

I miss the old Discovery Home channel--does anyone else?
If anyone wants to watch a really silly movie that is just pure fun, catch, "You Don't Mess With the Zohan."
