Has anyone heard if Michael Jackson practiced his family's belief in the Jehovah Witness religion? It was many years ago that I read the Jackson family were practicing JW. I haven't heard anything mentioned recently.

It has been reported here and there in the last few days.
MJ's mother began practicing in 1965. Somewhere in the last several years Michael showed isnterst in the Islamic faith, but the information is sketchy as to if he actually converted. Unless MJ had something specific in his will about his wishes I am sure his private funeral will lean JW.

It was said on the news yesterday or the day before that MJ's Mom was feeling uncomfortable about the long wait between death and funeral. In the JW tradition claims something about the soul being lost if the body is not laid to rest within 7 days.

Since they are charging $25 a ticket to get into the service live, I have a feeling that the service might only be carried on pay per view. I wouldn't put it past old Daddy Joe Jackson. Not talking

This is not his funeral this a memorial, a celebration of MJ's life, talent etc.

His funeral will be private from what the family is saying.

"Michael Jackson's private family service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at Forest Lawn in Los Angeles." (if this is the latest update, I am not sure.

Thank you. This actually makes sense. Maybe most of this crazy stuff coming out of the media is just rumors.

Here we go:

"There will be two locations for chosen fans to enjoy the memorial- 11,000 seats are slotted for the Staples center and 6,500 seats at the Nokia theater across the street which will be streaming a simulcast on three large screens."

"After nearly a day of family members arguing, the Jackson family has dropped their plan to charge the public $25 to attend a memorial service for Michael Jackson at Staples Center."

The plan to charge the $25 was not supposed to be revealed until people went to get tickets. I wonder what they were supposed to do with the money. I think (could be wrong) that AEG is supplying the two centers, they own both facilities.

Anyhow there will be NO charge for tickets.

Thanks Raeli, I did not mean to sound curt. It is just that everyone has their own way of remembering people. I know after my grandmothers funeral, we had what looked more like a party than something somber. That is they way she wanted it and that is they way she was.

Despite Joe Jackson's and AEG's real intentions (sorry I am cynical on this one) I believe that the people going don't really care. I mean they want to go and are going for themselves.

I was telling my husband yesterday that I feel certain that ever since Michael's death, there have probably many people securing plane tickets to come here. And I am not just talking about in this country but from others. Not invited guests, but people that simply have the money to do so, he had fans from all over. He certainly has been more popular in other countries over the last several years, than he was here in the US.

I'm sick and tired of turning on the tv and that's all that's being discussed. One sick story after another. Someone needs to put him in a box and throw some dirt on him for pete's sake. He abused d/r/u/g/s and children and now he's gone. Casket closed.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I was just watching Inside Edition. Headlines, upcoming story THE KING IS DEAD. He was not a king, president or God. He was a human being who entertained people for many years. He should be treated as such. Instead all the money grabbers are making a mockery and circus of his death. His parents should put a stop to this show that the money grabbers aer putting on. If his father is in on it, shame on him too.

The same term King was given to Elvis. It's just a term used in the music industry - king of rock, queen of soul, king of pop, etc. I dont think anyone thinks for a second he is being called a king for any other reason! The same thing happened when Elvis died...guess that was all a mockery and circus too.

Personally I do not understand the obsession people have with celebs that makes them carry on like they knew them like best firends or family. While I can grieve the loss of another human being, I truly have no desire to attend funerals or memorials of anyone I do not personally know or am related to.

No one, including the Presley family sold tickets to Elvis's memorial service and they were not held in a huge sports arena/stadium. The selling of tickets & having it appear like a concert is what is degrading IMO. This is a sad time for the Jackson family, Michael's children and it should be treated with respect.

And no one is selling tickets to MJ's memorial, either. Thousands turned out in Memphis for Elvis's funeral, which included 14 white Cadillacs. People lined the streets.

Someone is selling tickets for $25 each. I just heard it again on the news & I did not hear it on FOX, so it must be true.

If there are thousands that turn out I just hope for the family's sake, that the crowd does not become unruly.

"The memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday. Organizers offered few details on the tribute itself, including the format and who might perform or speak. Organizers will provide 11,000 tickets for the 20,000-seat Staples Center and another 6,500 tickets for an overflow crowd at the Nokia Theatre, where the event will be simulcast on large video screens, said AEG President and CEO Tim Leiweke.

Fans have until 6 p.m. today to register at the Web site. A computer program will randomly select 8,750 names to receive two tickets for one venue or the other, he said.

Those selected to receive tickets will be notified between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday, and will be given a code to use at the Ticketmaster Web site, which will give them further instructions on where to go Monday morning to get the tickets and wristbands enabling them to enter the venues, he said.

No tickets will be available at Staples or Nokia, and no tickets will be sold, he said.

The free tickets are only available to U.S. residents, according to rules on the Staples Center Web site, because of legal issues regarding the random offer, an AEG official said.

It was unclear whether organizers would check for residency."

Tickets provided not sold.
