Hi, snappygrandma -- I don't know if you've mentioned this in another post, but have you tried Restasis? My husband used to have plugs (he has dry eye), but has found great relief in that prescription from his ophthalmologist (man, that is one hard word to spell correctly).

I haven't tried it, MsLomo, and my doc hasn't mentioned it yet. I thought he might this time, but he wants to try the plugs first, I'm sure. There are contraindications with some meds, so I'm not sure if I should use it. But, I will ask if this step doewn't work. I'm really glad your hubby has had good success with it.

Hello.....tear duct plugs? Sounds painful.....I'm not ready for that........I'm still putting drops in my eyes following
my cataract surgery.....no one is touching my eyes any time soon........but I'm glad you will be relieved of your discomfort
and that the doctor was pleasing to the eyes..........pun intended.

Oh, Raeli, he is such a doll baby. He knows I'm mad for him and loves it. Seriously, you don't feel it at all when they put in the plugs. They are designed to keep the tears inside the eye to moisturize it. I wondered if mine might have fallen out, and one had.

Doc says everyone gets dry eye sooner or later. Honestly, if you look in a drug store, or market, or any store, there is a whole aisle for dry eye drops. Truly, Raeli, I didn't even know when the plugs went in, and they didn't feel weird in there either.

I am sure glad I read all of this.I skimmed to begin with and thought a part of your eye duct had fallen out.  So I went back and read all of it and discovered the dr had put plugs in your tear ducts and 1 of them came out.That made me feel better.  But seriously,I am happy to read he is making you a new plug and will have you fixed up soon.

Oh, BASSETBABE, no wonder you were alarmed! I look forward to getting them also, and hope it helps a lot.
This is too funny, but since you don't know her, I will tell it. Someone I know spells it tear ducks, and thinks that's right. :) Bless her heart. I'm sure someone will point out one of my many misspelled words, and I will deserve it. :)

I think my DH has them but I'd forgotten about it.....He wears contacts and his eyes get too dry.

My daughter's eye doc told her to take fish oil to help with the dry eye. It's so icky when it repeats. :(
She found one that isn't too bad. She also wears contacts.

We take fish oil..hasn't helped. We get it from a specialty health clinic in the area and it doesn't repeat at all.

Actually I think the plugs have helped as I've not heard him say anything in ages about his dry eyes.....

Good. I can hardly open mine in the morning. The minute I put in the drops, they pop open and say "thank you whoever you are."

LOL....I'm glad you have the drops to use. I've been using drops following my cataract surgery and they do make a
difference. Modern medicine can be very helpful.

Thanks, Raeli. rose, sorry you have the dry eye problem too. It must be common. There are so many kinds of drops for that one purpose. My doc said sooner or later, everyone gets it.

Snappy I am glad you found out what was wrong and wish you luck with the plug. Chronic dry eye is common and it does happen as you get older. I have it real bad and have to put drops in (Refresh) 3-4 times a day. Fortunately hubby gets it through the VA.
Just wanted to check in with you. Get some rest friend.
Perhaps the best Yuletide decoration is being wreathed in smiles.
