I think it would be better if they said they get to try all the merchandise and really liked it rather than claiming to actually own it. No one buys that much stuff and keeps it. They just sell too many items for them to have purchased it all especially things that you know take up space like appliances and cookware, hair and make up items. Kitchens and bathrooms can only fit just so much. Even if you have a garage and basement whats the point, who wants to trek down to a basement or out to the garage for an appliance or make up item.
Just say if you could afford it you would own it all. I still wouldn't buy it myself but at least your credibility with those that matters to wouldn't be in question.

Let's be realistic...they probably get for free! Why wouldn't the vendors give them a sample of this and that.....another thing if they did give them to "try" how would they get back????? and then what would they do w/it...hopefully not sell to you or me......I believe it's a perk of their jobs.......We were in a similar situation where we received a lot of good free things (really high end) they were sent discretly to our home. Christmas was everyday. But you know, after a while I gave 90% away to the Humane Society, my staff. We owned a "shop/factory" many years ago (before we retired) one of the large auto companies was our major customer. My husband always got a "trial" car (very expensive model)........somehow, someway things had a way of coming to us.....it's all in the game.....let's hope they donate too to a worthly cause!

I agree with that also. Unless these show hists make millions, they cannot possibly own several of everything they sell. I think they do get free samples. That way they get to know the product, how it works, and then try and sell it on air. I just don't like how some of them are dishonest and say how they "purchase" everything!!!

I would think that if they need to get more of a product - like cosmetics, skin care, vitamins, etc that they would be required to purchase but likely at a reduced rate. As for jewelry and other big ticket items like electronics, computers, etc I doubt HSN or the vendors gives them away to their hosts for free.

One more time, 95% of the host's showing products say they used/have it got it (watch they "hardly" ever say buy it!) for free. Please get real.....if I was selling something I pesonally would send to each and every host FREE.......let's face facts not only HSN vendors but all retailers...the markup is unbelievable...the vendors can well afford to give (call it what you may ....a trial, a keep, a present, etc.) to the host presenting....wouldn't you? Everyone regardless of their personal situation likes to get "something"...think about it.....when you get something "free" you remember this person in a different way (it could be something as small as cookies, homebread). It is just human nature! It would be interesting if one of the hosts would really answer this or don't say they "use or have". Personally, I use to think it was misleading, now it's just plains "that's the way it is"!

shannon was saying her garage is full of items, and she cannot get her car in her garage...i would love to go to her garage sale..but she does donate a lot of her items...to the needy...as she has a heart of gold...as most of the hosts has...they all give items away...to family or whoever,as the ones with family with children in college..

If this were true then all the host would say it but i have heard some host say they want to buy it, if they get everything for free then there would be no need for them to buy. If they are only giving everything to just SOME host then that seems unfair. Who has time to try every single item this company sells. I doubt they are trying all the make up items and skin care products as the skin can only take so much and I'm sure all that mixing would cause a reaction.
They are sales people so its part of the job to give the shoppers confidence in the product, that works for some people. You go into any store and you will find the same thing. Its a sales pitch. I don't doubt they don't have some of it but certainly not all.
Also if they do have it all at home why do they act like they have never seen product before and have no clue what it does in the presentations. I thought they get all this stuff for free to try out. If someone wants to believe them I don't knock em that is their choice but I choose to believe its a sales pitch.

The item must look shocking under the lights in the studio, that's why they are so surprised!!!! I also choose not to believe their sales pitches either.

Last night, Shivan mentioned that these forums talk about show hosts owning everything. SHIVAN, you are not in that category at all! I believe you and truly enjoy your presentations. You are very knowledgeable and polite to your guests.
Shannon is the the quilty party in saying she owns everything. I do not believe that she tells the truth. Everything about her irritates me. Cannot bear to look at the woman and therefore I don't.

Last night I was watching Terry Lewis with Calli and she really liked a coat that she (Calli) was wearing. She said, "Oh! I didn't want it to sell out. I wanted the coat". Terri said, "Don't worry about it. I'll make sure you get the coat". Then she (Terri said), "We always make several demos of an item. Some goes to shelters, some goes to the models and I'll make sure you get one". Then Calli said, (Talking to the models) "Oh! So that's how it works, I see". One of the models (I don't know their names well) Just smiled. So, they do get a lot of clothes and everything else for free. I think they get a lot more for free than QVC hosts do. I know Lisa R gets a lot of stuff for free because she is very outspoken and says, "I'll just slip this in my bra". (or similar things). I think on HSN Colleen is the equivalent to Lisa R's QVC. This is just an observation on my part. I am the first to admit I could be totally wrong. I think Bobbi comes in a close second. Speaking about Bobbi. I think she seems like a really sweet person (as do all of the hosts). I did notice that all of a sudden she looked younger. She has always been really skinny. Then I figured it out. I'd just been to my dermatologists office and they have pamphlets everywhere advertising the new silicone that is injected under the skin (face) near the cheek area to fill out the face to make one look much younger. I know that is what Bobbi had done. More power to her. She looks great. I see nothing wrong with anyone doing whatever he or she wants to themselves.

Seems like a staged conversation to me. They read the boards and know what we talk about so they countered. Hey I'm not mad at them, they are doing their job, selling I just don't have to let that stuff judge if I purchase or not.

Colleen frequently mentions that she owns the jewelry she presents, Shannon claims to own every piece of electronic equipment/cookware/gadget she presents, ditto for Suzanne Runyon, and Diana claims to use every line of skin care she presents. It's kind of funny in a way, but extremely inauthentic if you asked me.

I think that there are a lot of companies that give them free merchandise. They can afford to give 6 -8 away free or depending on how many hosts.
My problem is we have to trust the hosts when the say they love a particular cosmetic line. Colleen said she used Wei East then she said she has always used Serious Skin Care. It confuses us when we watch these beauty programs. We depend on the hosts to tell us the truth or not to say it is their favorite.

I think the show hosts get some freebies, pretty cool! Its hard to believe that they have (own) every item they hock. Its even harder to believe (they could ever believe), we believe "everything" they tell us about the products they are selling.
It is what it is...LETS GO SHOPPIN!

Several times over the years I've heard hosts mention that samples of the beauty products are made available for everyone to try in the hosts' green room. If all that bounty were available to me to play with, you'd better believe I'd be up to my elbows in goodies. I've also heard Colleen in particular specifically mention that she's been given samples of a clothing item to wear or a jewelry piece to wear. She will comment on how she's worn this or that out to dinner with her husband and gotten compliments on it. I don't know if they are allowed to keep everything they are given to sample, but at the very least they are probably allowed to purchase the item they've used at a greatly reduced price. And if they worn/used/tried something for a few weeks and enjoyed it, they probably do buy it when offered. Having said all that, it is an awful lot to swallow to believe that Shannon buys multiples of every single thing she presents. If she limited herself to saying that once in a while about a particular item, I'd say "wow, that must be an awesome product, when she'd choose to repeat buy even though so many other things are available to her". But she's overused that technique to the point where it's meaningless now. Kind of like the boy who cried wolf when the wolf wasn't there. When the wolf finally did come, no one believed him. For me, Shannon jumped the shark when she claimed to own several stand mixers. Really?? That's just laughable.
