I hope that HSN is not discontinuing this line of jewelry! My first purchase a while ago made me a true believer. There is no other stone that sparkles like moissanite! It appears HSN's inventory is now limited and many pieces are on clearance - really good deals if anyone is in the market for this stone. I put the question out to Colleen Lopez on her jewelry blog (Ask Colleen) but no response yet. I'd love to see more product before the holidays!

For anyone who's interested I also contacted customer service to see if they had any info about new shows and unfortunately they stated they had no scheduled shows in the near future. I was really hoping to see some new pieces on flex pay before the holidays. Maybe if enough inquiries are made we'll see more moissanite sooner than later.

I guess the spying eyes didn't like my post yesterday here, but I was having 'puter problems. Maybe it didn't make it..Yeh..sure,, I mentioned that although Moissaniete is very pretty and sparkly, it is still man made, and if you are going to spend that kind of money, get a real stone made in real rocks, like diamonds, etc..CZs are sparkly and show as good as or better than diamonds, but they don't cost the same either..I have a friend who owns a jewelry store, and she says jewelers are starting to use a lot of CZ in their showcases, since one can't tell the difference, and if a robber get off with it, he doesn't get much value. I wear a rather large princess cut CZ in 14k gold almost everyday, and it fooled her, until she weighed it..The weight gives it away..and she is a registered Gemologist..I almost got one over on her, but she caught me..I hardly eaver wear my real diamond rings..My "fakes" are more sprarkly and I don't have to worry about losing a stone etc..I had a man made Sapphire/CZ braclet recently fall off my wrist and I didn't notice..Goodbye 70$..but not $7000..Big Diff..Same as Moisonitte. Too much money for the value of stone..

Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder and, unfortunately, I find no beauty in cz jewelry. The stones themselves don't resemble diamonds. They are glassy and cloud over very easily and need constant attention to stay clean. Also, they are generally set in inexpensive mountings which give them away. No real diamonds would ever be set into these mountings. The only possible way to "get away" with a cz posing as a diamond would be to buy a really good gold mounting, possibly with some diamond accent stones, and then get a round, small cz as the center stone. Any other cz, whether huge in size or any other shape just spells faux to me. Moissanite, on the other hand, is a beautiful stone and has none of the characteristics of cz. It stays clean longer, has no windowing (a giveaway for cz) and sparkles beautifully. Yes it costs more but, IMO, it's well worth it.

Thank you Barlan. I happen to really love the moissanite stone, and for those who have not seen it in person it has much more depth and fire than a cz. It is also in a gemstone category to itself, not trying to be a diamond-like simulant. I have 2 moissanite pieces that I treasure and I don't try to pass them off as diamonds - I will say it's moissanite if anyone asks about them. Most people don't really know anything about the stone.

Again, I did say it was a very nice stone, but also that my princess cut is set in 14k gold. In fact, I have had it for years and years, but I am sure it is Diamonique, which is on HSN.I have seen Moissenite, and I have bought cloudy diamonds, and good czs, and real BLUE tanz, and some real grey ones..I make alot of my own rings, and I guess I am picky about value of stone to value of total ring. I don't set good tanz in silver, nor a poor garnet in good gold..Mois. IS beautiful..I am trying to see the extra value of the stone..Like right now, I can't buy a Ruby with the worldwide ban on Burmese rubies..The rest are sorta like grey diamonds..Real but yukky..Just in humble opinion, of course..Now, if I knew where to buy Moissenite Stones..Eureka..Idea.Note to self. See if loose stones can be bought ANYWHERE??..ummmm..Thanks for the idea

Luckydog, there are many places on the Internet where you can buy loose moissanite stones. The problem is that the prices are still high. I think that sometimes, not always, we can splurge on a stone that has no real intrinsic value. As long as we love it and love wearing it, that's really all that counts. If we try to sell the gemstones that we believe are "valuable", we'd be shocked that we'd get next to nothing for them. I don't buy jewelry with the hopes of selling it someday and getting a lot of money for it. I buy what I love and consider it something I will have for a lifetime. Unless you're buying investment grade diamonds, nothing really holds its value.

I love moissanite. I recently purchased a 2ct pr of earrings and an eternity ring on clearance and they are magnificent! I know gold is expensive but I hope they continue offering moissanite. It beats any CZ by miles and puts diamonds to shame.
Peace

I just won't pay that much money for a manmade stone. It is artificially high-priced--it's what the market will bear.

I guess I just don't get the appeal. For the high price of this stone, I'd want a natural stone, not a manmade one.

I don't get the appeal, either. I remember when it first came out, I thought it was a pretty stone, but felt like I could get high quality CZs in gold for much less. With Moissanite, I would still feel awful if I lost it, because it's so much more expensive than CZ.

When I started this post I didn't realize how negative most people are in their opinions about moissanite. Like I previously stated I find it to be a beautiful stone that truly is unlike a CZ and actually sparkles like a superb quality diamond. If moissanite was as cheap to manufacture as a cz then the price would reflect that as well. My pieces are also set into 14k and I have been wearing them everyday since I got them. They also have a lifetime warranty that I have registered. Is moissanite something one can buy as an impulsive purchase - absolutely not (unless one has the disposable income) but I looked at this jewelry as "forever" pieces that I always wanted and now wear all the time. To each his own, right?

You are correct, I found a couple of my wholesalers that sold it, but Hang me by my toes, it WAS high..I can get a really good Tanzi for that..I was looking at 6mm rounds, (perfect solitare size without looking fakey.) uless one can afford 4ct diamonds or mois..etc..I read up on the origin, etc..The market is driving it, but diamonds are a one-market thing, and controlled, and they aren't even rare..I am beginning to like some of the less common gemstons..like Morganite, Blue Lapis, Deep Blue Topaz, (either sky or London)..I even found a Gorgeous Peridot, and I don't like peridot...LOL Thanks for all in imput..I am almost 63and still learning...

I love moissanite, it is a gorgeous stone, I wear a three-stone 4 ct moissanite as my engagement ring that is sandwiched by two 1 carat diamond princess cut wedding bands, I have been wearing my moissanite for over 3yrs now and still love it, the stones have remained beautiful as the first day when they arrived. My hubby and I never intended to resale our moissanite and most importantly, never purchased it for any intrinsic value because we knew there was none. That being said, I don't splurge on moissanite jewelry, I have another 2ct round solitaire that we had purchased prior to the 4ct, and it is currently sitting in my jewelry box, I am thinking of having it re-set as another three-stone with 2ct tw of either ruby or sapphire (1 ct each) flanked either side of the 2ct round moissanite; the finish product should be lovely. I have a fantastic jewelry collection which contains about 98% of authentic gemstones, mostly diamonds, sapphires (purple, pink, yellow, blue ceylon, cornflower and midnight blue colored sapphires), rubies, a few garnets, aquamarine, amethysts, blue topaz, pearls etc.... So, I would say that is enough moissanite for me, although, I would love to own a set of 4ct moissanite studs, but honestly, I am not willing to spend anymore money on moissanite right now, unless the prices drop down drastically.

Like you I also have other "natural" gemstones and treasure them. I wear my moissanite for the unique beauty of the stone - like you, not for the monetary value of it! Jewelry purchases are personal to each individual - that's what makes us all a unique and interesting bunch!

Hi Nova, how are you? I hope your morning is going well. Thanks for the compliment though, I seldom wish we could post all our beautiful collections, but other times simply wish to keep my jewelry collection private, but to only disclose it to my sisters, close girl-friends and my 7 yrs-old twin daughters who are likely to inherit all my jewelry pieces. I, indeed do have a fantastic jewelry collection that I started collecting & receiving from the age of 18 yrs-old begining from my dad, mom and now my wonderful husband. And, I trully treasure each piece close to my heart and soul. The days of beautiful, superb quality gemstones and super heavy gold mountings are pretty much over, unless one is willing to spend an arm and a leg, so I feel priveleged to have been able to acquire or receive so much beautiful jewelry as such a young age.

I love Moissanite and have one ring. My DH bought mine for me in a very heavy gold setting as a wedding ring and it is the three stone ring but with the green moissanite in the middle stone. Its very beautiful and I feel better for having it than if he had bought me a diamond as many diamonds of that quality can be compromised from countries that cause havoc with the people and many die for it, and I just didn't want a blood diamond. For a stone of this quality, a diamond would have been twice as much in price. I think that the moissanite sparkles much more than a diamond as well. Man made or not, its a beautiful stone, just like my favorite helenite, which is sort of manmade as well.
