I bought a new Gateway laptop that offered windows 7 free. Now I find out that this offer was only valid from 7/26/2009 till 9/30/2009 .I would have waited to buy a new computer if i knew this.I relied on Hsn hosts being truthful. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know how or if you were able to resolve this,
Thanks

I had the same problem with a laptop today's special in May 2009. Coupon included and upgrade denied. Both HSN and Acer/Gateway are not honoring this upgrade. I have fought and fought. The programs stated it and I have it on DVR but don't know if I can make a disc of it or even how to get the disc. I am furious. I feel your pain. It is one lie after another about this upgrade. I even found out Gateway Joe is not an employee of Gateway/Acer and never was. He is an employee or contractor for HSN.

Thanks Ranchgirl
I think HSN should pay for the upgrades. It is only right; based on their representations of the product. I will continue to pursue this and let you know how I make out.
Have a great weekend.

Good luck to both of you. This is a situation that HSN should rectify immediately. I considered getting a computer before Windows 7 came out but luckily decided to wait. Should HSN offer you a disc, make sure it's for Windows Home Premium and not Basic Seven which you will just have to upgrade again. There's another post here on 'What you should know about Windows 7' that you should read if you haven't seen it already.

Thanks for your wishes but there will be not settlement of this problem. HSN refuses to accept responsibility and Acer/Gateway says they are not partnered with HSN so its "So sad to bad your sc__wed. Brick wall

i have been having a small problem about this i bought my gateway when it was TS with WinVista. When i first got my laptop the first thing i did is went to the Microsoft website and sign up for a free upgrade for Win7 after i did i got an email saying that i will receive another email when my free upgrade Win7 ships and it past October 22 still no email about my shipment, so i email then and this is the respond i got from them;"Your order has been received and validated. Orders are being filled in the order they were received. Please allow 1-4 weeks for your order to ship. Your order will be delivered USPS." hopefully i get it by December if i dont i will be really angry at Microsoft and HSN!

In response to tootsieroll, the coupon was and is supposed to be good until January 1, 2010. However no matter what it can't be settled in time. HSN has dropped the ball and continues to say they are not responsible for what their people say.

I did not get a coupon with my ts computer. I was told to go to Gateway (which I did) and register for this ( which I did)When I check on the status it says processing, (by a 3rd party)F0R 10 DAYS nothing!!!! I have emailed Gateway,Hsn and this 3rd party .I am sooooo angry that Hsn is not going to stand behind this. Like I said before I would have waited to get my new computer NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Just to let you guys know... Windows 7 Starter is not available for sale to the public as a stand alone product.. Its authorized for inclusion in low cost devices such as Netbooks and Nettops.

It will eventually replace Windows XP.

Well Ladies
It seems that you have been having more success than me loll. I did go onto Gateway and request my free upgrade as I stated earlier. It does say that the compueters had to be purchased after july 26 2009. So for people who were told that their earlier purchases would qualify no according to Gateway. My order says that it is in fullfillment where it has been for 2 weeks. I am soooooo disappointed in Hsn.They should really step in and rectify this situation. We purchased our computers in good faith based on the representations of Hsn.Like others I would have waited. so we will see if I ever get my update (after 4 weeks of trying) or I have to go and purchase one on my owne. I wll never purchase electronics from Hsn again.
