I really dread doing a lot of research and leg work, but I guess I must. It doesn't need to be huge. Is it safe to just go to Walmart and pick one? Which brands would you recommend? Samsung? Sony? Help would be appreciated.

Pick a brand name, I have a Sony 52 inch and got insurance for it too for a tv this size its a good idea! Get what you really want and need so you don't have regrets, and remember black friday is soon good sales then, and check sunday paper too, I researched for a long time before I bought mine it was between the one I bought and a Sharp. Best investment I ever made!Good luck!Dancing

I went to Walmart and got a Sanyo hi def tv (27 inch because I don't have a huge living room and a really big screen tv would not do). I got it with added warranty protection for a really great price. It is a dream tv, and it came with more outputs than a Vzio, which was higher priced. For my money, I wanted to buy a tv in person because I read the reviews of Westinghouse and LG tv's and most people weren't that happy-and if there is a problem with the tv and you have to ship it back, that's a pain. Do your homeowrk, ask questions, and get a brand that you know and trust.

I have a Sony Bravia 40" HDTV, 1080P. I love it. Sony is an excellent brand for tv's. Don't get some off brand or a name you really aren't familiar with. Good luck!Surfing

I researched as well as I could online (Best Buy, WalMart, Target, Amazon, Google) and was leaning towards a 32" or 37" Sony. I ended up ordering a 40" Sharp Aquos (1080p/120Hz) from QVC this morning. It happened to be their TSV. My lucky day. I think I did okay, but as with everything ordered online, I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best. I need to go back and order the extended warranty, just for peace of mind.

Thank you so much for all your help and good advice. :)
