We live in Virginia and on Friday my daughter's elementary school sent home a permission slip for her to get the H1N1 swine flu shot free of charge. Anywhere else offering this to school children? I was waiting for our doctor's office to get some in so we could go get the shot so this is saving me some money. Just curious if this was being done anywhere else?

I also live in Va. and the pharmacies are giving the shots as well as the elementary schools. I wonder how many other states are giving it out in schools. Strange that only Virginia is responding. Think Think

We got a permission slip in Pinellas County, FL, but as soon as we did the media posted a story that the order for the enire county (health workers, sick people etc..) had been delayed 'indefinately', which is really bad....

Since posting this I haven't heard a thing from my daughter's school about when she will actually get the shot. I sent the permission slip back right away but don't know when they will be starting them. Will post when she gets it.

I work as a nurse in PA, as far as I know the vaccines have not been offered in the schools, but we have been offered them at work.

New Jersey here, consent form came home last week for "injectable" H1N1. Due to the severe storm we had it was delayed, but he got the vaccine today and came home with the 2nd of the 2 part form for his medical records with the vaccine Lot manufacturer and Lot # plus instructions on what to do in case of reaction. New Jersey was out of the vaccine so when he brought this home I asked around for thoughts and was told "get the vaccine".

Also this form says the following "as of 10/8/2009, two (2) doses of injectable H1N1 are required for children ages 6 months through 9 years of age". (updated October 19, 2009)

This form was not printed by the school system, it was from the Division of Public Health from county in which I live and was sent out to all kids in all schools in this county in New Jersey (thats alot of schools and alot of kids). If there were seperate forms for each county in New Jersey, I don't know.

Hi swan, thanks for letting me know. My daughter still has not got her shot yet. I am glad atleast some school children are getting the vaccine. There was a bunch of news reports about various people, including prisoners, getting the vaccines before kids and pregnant women, so now I will be hopeful Applause
