Some of us can't wear silver. I have found only 2 lines of silver that I can wear adn that's because their pieces are rhodium or palladium coated enough. Please don't forget to offer some gold jewelry....gems in gold, 14k leverback earrings, 10k and 14k chains and bracelets, 8.5" bracelets, etc. Thanks.
Peace

I like both silver and gold. However, I have stopped watching HSN's jewelry shows due to the lack of gold items. Too many overpriced mystery metal or silver items have made me stop buying from HSN. I think the problem with HSN is the lack of vareity. I realize gold prices have increased. However, that doesn't mean HSN can't have a couple nice gemstone rings set in gold for today's specials, a couple times a year.

Same thought here Starsdancing. Like you mentioned it's mundane gemstones mostly set in silver or mystery metal. If they do present some gold jewelry it's often 10K and very high priced with a non precious gemstone. I rarely watch HSN's jewelry shows either.

S0 sorry to tell everyone..Gold is at $1000 an TROY OUNCE..weigh your ring, necklace, etc..the stone is nothing in weight in comparison..even 10K is VERY high, and if the people in this economy can't/won't buy gold, then they have to go to silver and it isn't cheap either..I also, can't wear mystery metals..allergic as all get out, but silver is OK as long as I don't wear it on the same place for more than a day or so at a time..Plated is good..doesn't tarnish (eventually it will), but it will be fine for yrs to come..Vermeil is getting to be the best value around, but goldtone irratates my skin and gets on my nerves..Mystery stuff is worthless. Dime store stuff. Buy a good silver keeper jewelry box for your silver stuff, and buy gold when you can..Luck to all

I have bought many gold pieces at from jewelers in the past. But as someone who works with my hands, I can't count how many gold rings I've destroyed from cracking and denting the bottom. Gold is just too soft (if you are buying higher gold percentage like 18k, 20k, or 22k) and I'm tired of replacing them at costly prices. I love the plated sterling rings because they are much weightier and thicker than my gold rings and I've never had one break on me.

I've never had a problem with higher karatage rings breaking or bending, however you must have a weightier piece or I would imagine it would be too soft. Still I'm not interested in vermeil as the coating eventually wears off if the jewelry piece is worn often.

I never had trouble with the gold cracking or breaking and since I`m over 60 yrs old I had a lifetime to aquire what I have, I have quite a bit of 14K and 18K gold rings, bracelets etc.....I do still like gold thats the jewelry that holds its value, silver is worth much, much less......what annoys me is that they are charging 10K and 14K gold prices for silver...its a ripoff...silver shouldn`t cost what they are charging here at HSN for it. I am also annoyed with them for calling mystery metal pieces Fine Jewelry.

Just my two cents worth.... I know what gold costs now. That should not mean shopping channels should give up entirely on gold. I still prefer to save and buy a nice gold piece occasionally. There are only 2 silver lines I can wear but only because the rhodium or palladium coating is thick enough. Otherwise silver that touches my skin makes me break out in huge, sore hives. Consider yourself lucky if you can wear it.
I don't consider 10k as "high end" jewelry. It perfectly ok and is what it is. I have a few 10k pieces too. I also don't consider any costume jewelry (Daus, Absolute, Suzanne Somers, Joan Rivers, Victoria Wieck silver, etc) as high end.
Shopping channels turned me into a jewelry snob. I was perfectly happy with one or two gold hoops and a simple rope bracelet until I found ShopNBC, QVC, and HSN. I hate it but I am what I am. I will hold off buying cheap and save my pennies and wait for a nice gem set in gold or a gold piece of jewelry. It may be a long wait but that's fine with me.
Peace

I have been enjoying buying Technibond lately, get good deals on HSN or even on ebay, looks like real 14K.

I bought a nice pair of 18K hoops from HSN a few years ago. I love them, but have to be soooo careful when I store them so they won't scratch.
