Please don your culinary caps for me. I recently purchased a few boxes of sugar-free cranberry Jello with the idea of using it in a salad for Thanksgiving dinner. I have perused the allrecipes and recipeczar sites, but haven't found anything I particularly like. I want to use ONLY the cranberry jello (no raspberry, lemon or cherry), and do NOT want to add fresh or canned cranberries/sauces. I am definitely OKAY with using pineapple, cream cheese, nuts, celery or ginger ale, but would prefer to fix it in a flat pan, not a mold. I am not creative in the kitchen. PLEASE HELP! Many, many thanks.

Good morning kadoodler.
One of my favorite fruits is canned mandarin oranges, I use the liquid from the can as part of the water and add them along with enough finely chopped walnuts to cover the top. This should be especially pretty with the cranberry...hope this helps.

Hi JAG, I think the only problem would be to "cut & paste" already published ones. So I just make sure any recipe I post is one of my own...no problems yet. Shhh

Cranberry Sour Cream Mold

2 small boxes cranberry Jello
1 3/4 cups boiling water
1 (16 ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce
1 cup sour cream

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Chill until partially jelled.

Beat cranberry sauce and sour cream together with electric mixer until smooth. Fold into gelatin. Pour into 3-cup mold. Chill until firm.

I have made this for years and years and don't know where the recipe came from. HTH

Natalie,
Thanks so much for this recipe! I am a cranberry fanatic-in fact, I usually eat the canned jellied cranberry sauce as a side dish 7 nights/week and 365/days a yr. I love this time a yr, because you can get these cans on sale for about .88, and the rest of the year they can go up all the way to 1.99/can. The addition of the sour cream sounds delicious.

Thanks, NATALIET, for posting your recipe. Since I mentioned that I prefer using a flat pan vs. a mold, could this just as easily be done in a pan? What size? Do you spray the pan before pouring in the jello mixture? Thanks for any help/hints you can provide.
