Hi all, I have tried a few products but really do not like using chemicals on my skin. The method I have used for about 10 years now is very simple, using a soap made of coconut soap, water coconut oil, vegetable glycerin, and natural fragrance, I wash with warm water, rinse. While still damp, I vigorously scrub my face with a wash cloth and warm water, rinse again and apply a thin coating of petroleum jelly to my damp skin. Once a week, I use this method for a full body treatment... My 60 something year old skin is ever so soft and smooth, just ask Mr Lobo

The best scrub I have found is from Serious Skin Care, Extreme Results from her C line. I use once a week and it has made a huge difference in my skin.

My favorite is Philosophy. Used it for several years. Think it's called Microderm peel. The two piece kit. The crystals and the glycolic acid to add while the crystals are still on the face. It has helped my sons acne too.

"and apply a thin coating of petroleum jelly to my damp skin." aren't you just reclogging your pores that you just cleaned out? Seems like you are undoing what you just Did. I don't get it.

I don't get it. Some people swear by petroleum jelly, and some people claim it clogs the pores. The same with mineral oil. I don't use either, but some moisturizers ( my favorite means ) has clogged pores on others. I love my Clarisonic with the delicate brush, and wouldn't trade it for nothing. It has proven to be the best exfoliating for my needs.

No matter what you apply to the skin it will somewhat clog the pores, in our harsh climate, the petroleum jelly keeps me from getting chapped skin and being a flaky mess all winter.

LOBO, I wished certain products would work for me. My grandmother used Ponds Cold Cream all her life and had the most beautiful skin! I tried it and it burned and irritated me. I'm economical and always look for ways to save $$$ in todays tough economy. The Clarisonic was an investment and saved my skin in many ways. I have keratosis and this keeps them from forming on my face. Keratosis looks like a bad case of acne.

I use a little of sugar and warm water mix and a soft washcloth and gently scrub once a week with it. I rinse well and use a small amount of baby lotion to moisterize.

If you want a VERY inexpensive, safe and gentle way to exfoliate don't scrub and pull on your skin w/ a washcloth. Instead, use your favorite cleanser and add baking soda. It isn't harsh, won't pull your skin, won't scratch or irritate.
I use Clarisonic, my 2 teens have the smaller travel one and what a HUGE difference for my son, who has just been taken over by acne.
My grandmother and mother both used Ponds cold cream forever. I love that smell! :)

I have sensitive skin and still use a very soft washcloth and very, very gently wipe my face, not scrub, but glide. I use no exfoliating product since they all affect me badly, just warm water and my Isomers Australian Harvest cleanser. It has a slight exfoliater in it but gentle enough for my skin.

Hitsville, I also use the baking soda in my normal cleanser (Principal Secret Reclaim), and it is very gentle and leaves my skin feeling very soft and clean.

Baking soda is actually not good for your skin. It has a very high pH and raising the pH of your skin destroys the acid mantle, allowing bacteria to get in and moisture to evaporate more quickly.

Cookie mentioned it first. ;) I'm glad she did, brings back memories huh? The ice elements gel exfoliator is great for sensitive skin. It doesn't sting or burn or have scrubbing things that can irritate skin. My daughter used that before we got he the clarisonic.

I love SSC capo minerale cleanser-gently exfoliates and moisturizes. Also using the C-extreme results once a week is wonderful to my skin.

I can't use a scrub or any type scrubbing pads/washcloths, etc...just tears my thin, dry skin.
I use Paula's BHA gel 2-3 times a week and it does a great job of unclogging pores and gentle exfoliation. Also, prevents ingrown hairs on chin.
For body I love LacHydrin 5 and Amlactin lotions...took care of all the little skin bumps and dry skin while moisturing at the same time.
60 years old, very dry skin, medium complexion with light freckles and two sunspots. Also, some small broken veins due to sun damage and mild rosacea. Medium crow's feet wrinkles, forehead wrinkles and mild lip line wrinkles.

I just started using the AmLactin cream in the tube. I never thought anything could help with my upper arm Keratosis. It's somewhat sticky on first application, but once it sinks in completely, your skin never felt so smooth and less bumpy. It has reduced them by 50%. Excellent product.
