I believe most of these have shipped & are probably delivered by now. I got mine ON the 22nd but there's so much going on in my life right now I won't even be able to open the box (!)for several days. So please....as you are getting these and checking them out, please report on how you're doing. Also, do you have to start right out making 'recovery disks' and if so, what kind should I buy in the store? Thanks so much, and good and happy luck to all of us who purchased these!

got mine on the 22nd. Love it and haven't made my back up disks yet. Still discovering how to use the features and so forth. I already had a router set up, only a G, so I didn't have to do anything. Once I get going with the features and installing what I want, I'll investigate changing to an N router!! I thought this had a backlit keyboard but it isn't. Did anyone else think the same and if so, is there a setting I would need to change in order to do this. Also, Can we watch tv with this? There is a software, which I have not installed yet that came with it called PCtv. Please let me know. Hope you are all enjoying yours.

You would think you could watch TV if software came with it. Do you know how to work the webcam to communicate with other people?

Hope HSN doesnt delete this..............
Do you guys mean DTV for PC?
That program is complete garbage. What is on there you could already get online for free with a good google search....... its nothing but a glorified paid version of an online directory for
As far as the Webcam on this model goes, the camera is activated by the programs you use.

I love this laptop. It is faster than my desktop is. I do not believe that the keyboard is backlit and if it is I don't know how to turn it on. You can watch t.v. on it. I took the tuner off my desktop and plugged it into the laptop and it worked great! This was a great buy and it was delivered on the 22nd as promised. So far so good!

If it has a backlit keyboard (as was mentioned in the presentation), you turn it on by holding the Fn (function key) and pressing the F1 key. The sequence is as follows: Toggle sequence: for the unit with backlit keyboard : 1st toggle: All system LEDs on 2nd toggle: Backlit Keyboard LEDs off, everything else on 3rd toggle: Multimedia touch LEDs and control functions off, everything else on 4th toggle: All system LEDs off and Multimedia control functions off Toggle sequence for the unit without backlit keyboard : 1st toggle: All system LEDs on . 2nd toggle: Multimedia touch LED and control function off, everything else on 3rd toggle: All system LEDs off and Multimedia control functions off Hope that helps and that your laptop does have the backlit keyboard - it's a great feature.

Just google "how to use a webcam" or "how to set up a webcam" and you will find many articles like the following: "To use a webcam with e-mail, first launch the software that comes with the camera. Depending on the model, the process of e-mailing and recording your video messages may vary. Press Start or Record to begin the video message. Click Stop and then preview the video. You can then click E-mail or Send, which will automatically open your default e-mail program. When sending a video e-mail, the longer the video message recorded, the bigger the attachment will be, so make sure the recipient’s computer can handle the size. The recipient of the e-mail does not need special software to see your video message; he or she simply chooses to open the attachment and the mini-movie will play. Instant Messaging A popular way to chat with webcams is in “real-time” with instant messaging programs such as Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, etc. Note that both ends must have a webcam to chat visually. During a chat, there will be an option to start the webcam right on the screen, or under the Options or Tools pull-down menu. In Windows Live Messenger, click Actions Video Start a video chat. If you happen to have a Microsoft LifeCam, starting a video chat is even easier. The Windows Live Call button is similar to -dialing on your phone. Pressing the Call Button — located at the top of the LifeCam — will automatically bring up your buddy list, showing you which contacts are online. Simply pick one and start your video chat." The webcam program software on your computer should have a help section to guide you. YouTube also has many videos on the subject. Hope that helps to get you started.

barbcsr: Could you please tell me what kind of disks to buy? And how many? Thanks. Anyone else not able to make these? Yes, I would worry that if "trouble" starts right from the very beginning, it is NOT a good sign!!

I tried the other viewer's (ezidoesit) suggestions and it doesn't appear to be a backlit keyboard but the toggles do sback of sthat are lit where the power buttons are. I love the touchpad..I never was a mousepad person and even hooked up a mouse but now I don't even use it. My only complaint is not having a long battery life. Maybe I will purchase another after the holiday bills are paid!!!

Yes, I would worry that if "trouble" starts right from the very beginning, it is NOT a good sign!! Don't worry..I had trouble too as I used the incorrect disk. Use the DVD plus or minus /r. They are the cheapest as they can only be recorded to once. I used 3 for the backup and one for the drivers. You might be able to use two, if you haven't added a lot to the machine yet. I waited to back it up and had added Office 2007 and a coouple other smaller items. If you are planning to do a weekly or scheduled backup of the computer to prevent loss of data you have created, then get the RW disks as they can be re-written to. Good luck. Let me know if you still are having problems. Also, it took me about 30 minutes for the first disk, 20 for the second aND WAY less time for the last one. It depends on the of the disk you have. The first one was a slower . Believe me, I was frustrated to AS I wanted to play on the computer!!!!! Good luck!!

I believe somewhere close to 15,000 of these computers were sold.... I wish people would review them here and share how they like it--or not. Anyone?
