I just saw that Joy Mangano has a fireplace. I did not know she made or invented fireplaces..oh asnt the fireplace already invented lool. Anyway i dont recall if she had one last year. I looked over and it seems to be a gel can fireplace so i will pass this one. It ends up costing a lot of money to buy the gel cans.

They look identical to me except that Joy's are more expensive.

I'm waiting to hear (via this forum)how it's presented that this is her exclusive "invention."

Someone suggested getting the Amish one. I agree. The Amish are true craftsmen and don't sell JUNK.

My thoughts exactly. When I heard her say that "this is the fireplace I invented" I about choked. Hers has an open shelf near the top. Was anything mentioned about the heat generated by the fire below or the heat generated by the equipment having a way to be vented? You can set a tv on top of any artificial fireplace. She needs to get over herself. I'm watching QVC just to avoid her!

I would like to thank everyone for posting honest comments about this product. I am new to HSN and placed an order for the fireplace. After ordering it, I had began contemplating about gel vs. electric; would I really save anything.

Once reading all the comments regarding the product quality, I quickly cancelled my order. I will look into the Amish fireplace instead.

Thanks again!! Applause

I have a gel fireplace (not hers for sure) and the heat generated by even one can of gel fuel is too much to have any kind of DVD player or cable box to be sitting inside that storage area. Unless it is insulated between the two areas, which it probably is not.

For anyone that has received this a quick question. did you have a "liner" that came attached to the top where you insert the firebox to act as insulation
