Just got my Amish fireplace in light oak. The fire looks real. The mantle part is beautiful solid oak. The heat is great. Especially now that the night temps are dipping into the 40's. I know someone else who bought 2 last year and they saved a good amount on heating bills. The ambience is great.

Forgot to add the amish are hurting just as much from the economic turndown. They do build their own barns in a day and their furniture work is beautiful. The heater is UL underwritten and has good housekeeping seal. Yes the heater is made in China. But come on what world are you living in everything basically is made in another country now. Like the tv, the camera, the car, the clothing on your back. But again I have it in my bedroom against the wall and the flame alone with the embers is great. If I had a big family room I would put 2 on either side of the room. It is one of those that people would walk into the room and think it is a real fireplace.

Excuse ME...I live in Amish/Mennonite country..I have NEVER seen an animal mistreated, including the horses that pull their buggys to town or where ever they are going..Some sects will ride in a car, but won't drive it..They vary..I know of no puppy mills in immediate area, and believe me when I say I would be banging on doors and knocking on heads if I ever even hear of one..I have a Chi who was a male breeder in a puppy mill, got an eye infection, got dumped at a vet, thus only one eye, and he is a luckydog..He still has an eye left..He does NOT find that funny..better than "Winky" which the vet named him..Anyway, back to the fire-places..They are gorgeous, and I would buy them. Who cares where the metal parts are made..Harldy anyone forges steel anymore, but we do have a ferrier here who takes care of buggy wheels and horse shoes..The horses are happy trotting down the road..They are well cared for, fed well, and still young..Race horses are retired young (when they stop winning), but they are happy to have a good home, where running is almost unhead of..We have a hitching post in front of almost every business in town, the dr. office and even Walmart for heavens sake. The Mennonites here make storage barns and sell them like hotcakes..In the spring/summer, ahhh, the produce and flowers they sell..No one works harder and they make good money..They deserve every dime of it, to buy parts from China..
If you are a "if at first you don't suceed, try, try again" person; don't go skydiving!!

Luckydog, I beg to differ with you. Google Missouri puppy mills and see for yourself.
