I am looking for a plain bedspread but I can't seem to find them anywhere. All I find are comforters and bedskirts. I went to BB&B, JC Penney, and Macy's. Didn't find them there, so I didn't look in other dept stores, such as Dillard's or Sears.
I have a very heavy mattress. One would think that the besdskirt wouldn't budge, but somehow, the bedskirts shifts all over the place. I can't fix it because I can't lift my mattress. So, I managed to yank it off and roll it in a ball. My bed looks pretty goofy with the comforter and no bedskirt.
Does anyone use a bedspread? Where did you buy it?

Hi Aquafina,
I have a couple of bedspreads and comforters. The bedspreads I bought at Mervyns, which I think may be out of business. It is around here anyway. I just did a web search and many places come up with them, including JCPenney. There is a handful here on HSN, under 'coverlet'.
I wonder if maybe the stores aren't going to carry them 'in-store' because the season is changing to fall/winter.
Oh boy do I understand the shifting bedskirt issue. I stopped using one. It looks terrible when it is hanging out wrong. I prefer to go without until I can find a better way.

I found some in the Pen-ny's catalog...also a Blair catalog...also online.. I hate bed skirts..kitty loved to go under the bed..all the bedskirt does is catch hair!..I've also bought comforters..a size up than what I need...so it hangs down much further..

I've been having this problem for years. I've been using duvets without anything inside them. Always looking for something different.

Thank you so much for your replies. I'll check some of the catalogs you all mentioned. Our Mervyn's closed too. Kittie, buying a larger comforter is a good idea. I thought I was the only one with a shifting bed skirt...LOL! Ok, I'll keep looking. Thanks again. More replies are welcomed .

So many days past your post...not sure if you are still interested in sources for bedspreads. Country Curtains, super quality beyond Penney's, Sears, Wal Mart, located in MA. Everything I've ever ordered has been top-notch. I've even read that when people sell houses, they DO NOT leave their Country Curtain curtains! You can google them for contact info. You will love their other offerings as well. Happy Hunting.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I would have responded sooner, but my computer caught a nasty virus called Cyber Security...looks legit and all. I didn't have computer access for about a week.

You could try looking online at the Vermont Country Store, they seem to have quite a few. Not cheap, but there are some pretty vintage chenille ones!

I have a comforter with matching bed skirt. I like them since i find that dust does not fall under the bed. However during the warmer months i use patch quilts, and lever the bottom free.

I have 3 nice quilted bedspreads that I purchased last year out of the Penny's catalogue. I too was sick of the bedskirt/comforter look and wanted something that covered my thick mattress and most comforters were not wide enough to go down over the sides of the mattress to even come remotely close to meeting the bedskirt.

I complety agree with the comforter thing..I am OVER it..I am a warm person. I even kick the sheets off at night, so a bedspead would be much prettier and even usable..Bedspeads, if you can find them, are usually flowers, and patterns that gross me out..and Chennille..Don't even get me going on that..SHED. SHED..pain in the back. Expensive.. $80-90 -Just give me a long both lenght and width, (a Queeen) solid color bedspead..I can't use a bedskirt..Looks silly on my electric bed.
If you are a "if at first you don't suceed, try, try again" person; don't go skydiving!!
