our chocolate lab howard is having seizers and its so sad. after he has one he goes def and then doesn't know anybody in the house. last night he ran almost a 1/2 mile to the main road! its terrible alls he does is pace back and forth and drool and cry I hate to see him in this condition. he is on meds but they only mask the problem. don't know what our family is going to do....

so sorry for you and your family. You must feel helpless seeing him go through this. Perhaps it would be wise to call your vet - sometimes seizure medication is tricky and may need to be adjusted or changed - unfortunately medication

How old is your dog? Did he suddenly develop seizures? Is he having more seizures or about the same? Was just wondering if he had a reaction to a vet medication or vaccination?

God bless, Meezer

he is old he is 11 years old. we have been to the vet several times. howard has a huge tumor around his heart that just keeps growing and growing. there is nothing we can do about it. thats what causes the seizers. he is doing better now after being in an episode all last night and most of today I finally got him calmed down! he is in front of the fan which seems to always help. alls we can do is keep him comfortable. thanks for your concern and advice.

oh dang! Your lab is so lucky to be with such a good, loving and caring family. I am sure your love and prayers is the best medicine he can have.

Though it must be challenging for you all, but just know your precious dog is appreciative of your love, tenderness and understanding. God bless, Meezer

Weebug, there are a lot of good people here and alot of animal lovers. When our Miss Meezer was ill and fading fast - I learned to count each day as a blessing and to be thankful for what I have rather than focus on what I was losing or didn't have.

Hope the weekend has been a fun one for you and the furbaby ^..^ Meezer

Weezbug, it sounds like Howard has a life-threatening condition, so I hope your vet is able to guide you on his prognosis so you will know what to expect or when to intervene. I understand, since I am enjoying each day with my Fritz knowing he only has a short period of time remaining. It sounds like Howard has lived a good life, and, yes, has a caring family. I will keep you in my thoughts. I realize what a stressful situation it can be. regards fritzypat

Gosh, I know how you feel..I had to put my little Min Pin down recently to seisures..They got more frequent until I was worried I would come home to a dead dog, and I couldn't bear that thought..Vet said she probably had a brain turmor, and she was 16 and didn't see very well, so vet said, best is put her down, rather than put her through a bunch of tests. We had tried a few meds for infections, etc. she had, but the seizures continued..Good Luck with your dog..My Higher Power looked down on me and my neice all of a sudden just HAD to find a home for per Mini Doxi..and I still have Lucky, my one-eyed Long coated Chihuahua (for 6 years now..he is about 10-dumped by a puppy farm owner because of bad eye).Puppy farms abound in my state, but the state is worked on cleaning them up..Applause Pray

If you are a "if at first you don't suceed, try, try again" person; don't go skydiving!!
