I bought the Singer Furtura 150 weeks ago but life got in the way, and I didn't get it out of the box until last Sunday. I wound a bobbin, threaded the machine, watched the tutorial on the CD, but now I'm afraid to give it a try. I really don't know what to do next. What is easy to try first. I want to do some Christmas tea towels or something for gifts so I need to get started. Any and all suggestions, help, advise, words of encouragement are welcome. Or a small first project recommendation. I need help.

You can do matching pot holders. There are loads of free patterns and tutorials out on the web. Use the right batting called insulbrite to retain heat and make sure the giftee knows not to let the embroidery come in contact with the heat or it will melt. You can embroider the center panel and peice the border with Christmas fabric and do the back with great fabric as well.

hey here is one that is easy, did you make felt christmas stockings in grade school? we use to do it with glue and glitter, it was fun, now use your machine and do the embroydery instead of glue and glitter!

Thank you for two great ideas. I am going to get my nerve up and try something this weekend.

Hello, You could also do some place mats with the embroidery in the center. Measure and cut your mat fronts and backs as well as whatever type of liner/batting you'd like. Before you sew it all together do the embroidery on the front piece of each place mat. Then sew the top, liner/batting/back together. You can sew them together first but you will see the back side of the embroidery. If you embroidery the fronts first then sew together you will hide the ugly back of the embroidery between the layer of the front and lining/batting. Hope that helps. It should help keep you from banging your head against a brick wall. . *********************************************************
