I do. I have it pitch black. That's the only way I can sleep. I even throw a wash cloth over the clock on the cd player because it drives me crazy. Maybe he has never heard of blackout liners or curtains. My husband hates it because he cannot see anything & runs into everything. LOL!!!!!!!! I can still see in the dark. I don't have a problem with that. I don't even turn on the light when I get up in the middle of the night to go pot~ty. If I did I would not be able to go back to sleep.Anxious

I don't. I have some type of light on in the house. I don't like it pitch black dark. I live out in the middle of nowhere and being in the dark is the last thing you want. LOL

I do too! You sound like me. I need it pitch black. I live in the country with no street lights and the curtains that darken the room, I have them up.

I have a light on in every room. We have those horrid flying roaches down here and I keep hoping the light will keep them out! Some still come in, but at least with the lights on I can see them.

Lights don’t bother me at bed time. Last night I fell asleep with all the lights on, TV going. Woke up at 12:30, turned everything off and fell right back to sleep. Most of the time the drapes are open so I can se street lights and there is a night light in the bathroom. In fact when it is completely dark it creeps me out. Guess I watch to many horror movies.

That's so funny because I used to sleep with as many lights on as possible. I still CAN fall asleep with all the lights on but now I've calmed down a little bit and sleep with only one or two lamps on in the room... not sure why... guess i'm a weirdo... Dancing

Creepy! Now THAT might keep me from sleeping. I think I would have to have one of those mosquito nets over my bed, in that case.

I, too, sleep in pitch black. Since I read an article about how important it is for good health, I took steps to make sure all light was blocked in our bedroom. I even took out the night light in the bathroom. I've learned how to get around in the dark very well if I have to get up in the middle of the night.

There was an article in Reader's Digest about it. I can't remember the details, only that studies showed that people who live in cities that are lit up all night suffered more from certain cancers. Something about the melatonin production, I think. Our ancestors slept in the pitch black of night, and woke up with the sunrise. Artificial light is just that-artificial!

Me too! When my DH and I first married he used night lights in almost every plug in every room. I removed them all!!! Took him some getting used to but he now likes the darkness at sleep time too. :-)

OK, I missed this comment. I would love to hear what he said about sleeping in the dark vs some type of light. I'm one of those that hates total darkness and I prefer a nightlight. I think living alone may have something to do with this, but actually I've always preferred a subtle light as opposed to total blackness! For me, it is more soothing and yet if I have to get up, I can see where I'm going.

we have street-lights, so there is not total-darkness...we don't have any lights on at night...in our house though, plus we keep all drapes closed at night...

I have nightlights in almost every room, hate darkness. I also have Coast to Coast AM on all night on the radio. I can't sleep unless I have some background noise.

As I said before, there is some sort of light on in my house. I live where they are no street lights - just a lot of darkness. I normally go to sleep with the television on. I use the sleep timer function on the remote and will set it. Normally, I go out before the tv does. I don't like total darkness nor total lack of sound. My ceiling fan provides just enough noise for that after the tv goes off.

If you are afraid to sleep in the dark and live way out in the boondocks, get a dog as a night time alarm!

Hey weezbug, when I read your post, I thought of the Exorcist...LOL! You know how it got so cold in her room that you could see her breath.

I also live in a neighorhood where there are street lights, plus the moon shines right through my window. Also, ever since they broke into my house, I make sure I keep a light on in one of the other bedrooms.
